Free Online Genealogy Records
In the beginning, the Internet was swamped with genealogical data. Just about everybody added their family group sheets. USGenWeb accepted donations of county records from all states and offered the information accessible to everyone. Also, census records were typed and available online for free. Statistics during that early era reflected that there was more genealogy online than porn!
So what happened? Ancestry.com purchased the free companies and merged the data into its website.
Free Websites Today
You are going to love this news. USGenWeb is still online and clicking. This website began years ago by publishing certain genealogy records (county records, marriages, etc.) donated by individuals. Yet all is not lost!
USGenWeb offers other worthwhile projects on its website, such as the Family Group Sheets Project.
You can search on the link below by typing in a name. It is free, quick, and easy!

The Importance of Revolutionary War Pensions
Are you searching for a Revolutionary War Pension? Many regional libraries carry “Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files, four volumes.”
Why do I think that it is so valuable? I shall tell you.
It is in alphabetical order.
Lists the State where the soldier applied.
It is easy to compare the same surname data.
Surname comparisons assist the research in finding other members of the family. Remember, land grants took soldiers to new locations.
My personal experience with these books is that I discovered other members of the family — brothers, cousins, parents! Reading the pension records provides a unique understanding of the history of times, how and why the ancestors settled the plains, and so much more. And more importantly, it provides data as to where to search.

May I introduce my free newsletter, “Biographies of Revolutionary War Soldiers?” My data collection includes vast resources in books published during the 19th and 20th centuries, obituaries, pension records, etc.
